27 December 2007 - Referral Program is Back!

You will have $5.00 credited to your account each time a new user registers and places your user ID in the referral box!  The more people you refer to the site, the more credit you receive; there is no limit!!

21 December 2007 - Fixed Price Listing Duration

Items that are listed as "Fixed Price" (non auction items) will now have a duration of 10, 14, 21, or 30 days.  This is to alleviate the number of times the item may show up as unsuccessful and thus limiting the requirements of the script for relisting and tracking.

18 December 2007 - New Features!!

Today three new features were implemented at StampOffers.com:

1 - Sellers no longer have to click each item to mark as paid and/or shipped.  Now they simply check all the items they want to mark as paid or shipped and click one button to update the files!  This will save a lot of time.

2 - The homepage now has statistics displayed for everyone to see.  

3 - The blue line at the top of each page will now display the number of users that are currently listing, bidding, or browsing on the site.

15 December 2007 - Closed Auctions

Effective January 1, 2008 successful auctions will be removed from the site after 60 days from auction close and unsuccessful auctions will be removed 10 days after auction close.

24 November 2007 - Sellers are now verified

From now on, when a new user registers with StampOffers.com and would like to become a seller, they must make a request and StampOffers.com must approve them for selling status.  StampOffers.com is trying to create as safe environment for buying, selling, and trading stamps.  Is this process full proof?  Not 100%....but, it is a start and it will help.

21 November 2007 - Duplicate Listings and Upgrade to Advanced Search

Duplicate Listings

Recently, sellers of StampOffers.com have identified a number of duplicate listings.  

We updated all asp, the database and DLL to the latest version.  The latest DLL has a bug fix which should prevent auto relist duplicates in the first category (see below).    We found a lot of duplicate items, which broke down to basically 3 main groups: 

1.  Duplicate items where there are exactly 2 copies of the item that were created less than 10 seconds apart:  These were caused by the bug which is now fixed. (445 instances)

2.  Duplicate items where there are exactly 2 copies but were created more than 10 seconds apart: These may fall into the category below (679 instances)

3.  Duplicate items where there are more than 2 copies floating around: These were probably created by users intentionally or unintentionally when they manually relisted items before checking that the item was already an active listing. (240 instances, between 3 and 10 copies of that item)

All duplicates will be removed by StampOffers.com.  

Sellers are encouraged to be fully aware of items that you manually relist.  Once you do manually relist an item, immediately remove it from your unsuccessful folder so that you do not relist it again.

There is the possibility that some buyers may have purchased an item that was already sold.  We ask that you please keep this in mind before leaving negative feedback for something that was not the fault of the seller.

Upgrade to Advanced Search

Along with the updated asp, database and DLL versions, we have an update to the Advanced Search option.

The category selection has been upgraded to a "chained" menu to make it easier choosing your search category!  This is a lot easier to understand from the drop down menu that was previously in place.
